My degree is in electronics, which is augmented by a long background of reverse
engineering (i.e. troubleshooting and repair) of various sorts of instrumentation.
I'm a hacker by nature and most of my projects are one of a kind. The measurements
needed to properly engineer the result are best made on a first prototype. I
maintain the lasers in the lab (two excimers and a mode locked argon ion) and all the
various spectrometers (EPR, fluorescence, phosphorescence, etc). I am also involved in
protein dynamics simulations and instrumentation programming.
